German Gown Inset

Saturday 14 October 2006 @ 8:48 am

Ladies_Dresses_German_Gown_Inset_GGINSET_1577.jpg

German Gown inset is worn over a chemise. The reversible to black inset provides a lift for your bosom and holds in your tummy. In medieval times, the inset might have been a complete dress extending to the floor. The inset is reversible and machine washable.

The German gown inset is available in Hunter Green, Flame Red.

The outer gown is worn over the inset and chemise. It laces up the front “V,” where the inset shows through. The forearms lace up to elbow for a snug fit and the upper parts of the sleeves have small elastic pieces for a comfortable fit. These pieces may be shortened with a safety pin or a quick stitch should your arms increase or decrease in size. This gown is worn with a classic chemise designed to pouf through the slashes.

HTTPanties

What’s your status?

If you’ve ever run across a “403 Forbidden” error on a web site, it means you’ve either stumbled onto the wrong page, or you’ve been snooping where you shouldn’t be! One nice thing about the Hypertext Transfer Protocol that runs the web (HTTP for short) is that it includes helpful status codes such as “404 Not Found” when a resource can’t be found and “403 Forbidden” when the web site you’re knocking at does not want you to come in. One rarely seen status code is the elusive “200 OK” which basically means that everything went fine, and you’re seeing the page you’re supposed to be seeing!

We thought it sure would be handy if life came with status codes, but since it doesn’t, we did the next best thing and printed them on stuff you wear. But not just any old stuff – we had to try something different, and print them on undies. So we bring you HTTPanties for the discriminating woman who would prefer a web-savvy and somewhat-direct approach in the romance department.

Feeling frisky? Well then don the black “200 OK” panties and see where they take you. Alternatively, the white “403 Forbidden” style sends a very different and hopefully clear message. New for 2005 we bring you two more styles: 411 Length Required and 413 Requested Entity Too Large.

Iron-on Patches

ThinkGeek Apparel – Iron-on Patches

Portable apparel modification!

Do you have a lonely jacket or backpack that could use some company? Or maybe you just want to have one more way to show off your geekdom. Well we’ve got you covered. Just get one (or more!) of our Iron-on patches and problem solved. These are the same patches used on our work shirts, but they can go just about anywhere that an iron can.

Available in Geek, Hacker, 31337, Gamer, and Tux. Embroidered patches with heat-sensitive adhesive on the back. To apply, put the patch on the area that you wish to apply it to, cover with a cloth to prevent damage to the patch, and press a hot iron on the patch for several seconds until well-adhered. If properly adhered, it should be washable without coming off. For an extra measure of protection, you might want to sew the patch on!

Dimensions: Oval patches (Geek, Tux): W: 3.25in x H: 1.75in Rectangular patches (31337, Hacker, Gamer): W: 3.5in x H: 1.5in

17th Century Lady’s Dress

Saturday 17 September 2005 @ 3:40 am

The 17th Century Lady’s Dress is a classic Renaissance noble woman’s dress created in the Italian style.

For the lady of class, this dress is for times at court or other official functions. The 17th Century Lady’s Dress is burgundy and black floral dress with a black center front skirt panel adorned with lovely trim that is on the sleeves as well.

Women’s fashion during the 17th Century consisted of tight-waisted dresses with corsets and full skirts, sometimes made of silk and trimmed with lace. Men sometimes wore a casaque (cape). This type of cape was cut so that the front and back could be buttoned together to form a coat and the shoulder pieces could be buttoned together to form the sleeves.

I’m blogging this Babydoll Tee

I’m blogging this Babydoll Tee

ThinkGeek T-Shirts

Fair warning…

Ladies, put the world on notice. It’s unlikely that you’ll actually see anyone overtly change their behavior lest they be blogged, but you’ll certainly shake up a paranoid few.

100% cotton black ladies’ shirt. Stretchy and fitted, not baggy like the guys’ stuff! “I’m blogging this” on the front in white and “www.oreilly.com” on the back, also in white.

Almost all of our tshirts are either Gildan Ultra Cotton or Hanes Beefy-Ts which are both 6.1 ounce, heavyweight, 100% cotton, preshrunk tshirts. For more details on shirt sizes, check out the chart below which includes approximate dimensions of our shirts.

Although we do not list the international equivalents of our sizes, you can use this International Clothing Size Conversion chart for more info.

We carry most shirts in M-XXL and some in Small and XXXL sizes. XXXL+ sizes are only made in a few colors and they’re a little harder to come by, so we can’t guarantee that we’ll carry them all the time in all the styles. We’re definitely keeping our eyes open for those sizes in other colors and for reasonable prices, so keep checking back and we’ll update the size selections for the different styles when we can.

Ladies/Babydoll Tees
We use a few different brands of ladies’ tees, but in general, the ladies’ shirts are small, stretchy and very form-fitting. Most of our ladies tees come in S, M, and L sizes; and many are also available in XL. The S size is very small, so if you’re hesitating on getting the small size, try getting a size or two larger.

Please see the sizing chart above for details about ladies’ shirt sizes.

Although we do not list the international equivalents of our sizes, you can use this International Clothing Size Conversion chart for more info.

Want larger ladies sizes? SO DO WE!!
Right now, we are sticking with our current babydoll tee manufacturer who makes sizes up to XL. If they increase their range to include larger sizes, or if we switch to a different manufacturer, we’ll make sure to post an announcement. Please don’t email asking when we will be getting larger sizes – we’ll let you know as soon as we do!

Other Clothing
We don’t have exact chest sizes for other clothing (like golf shirts, fleeces, etc) but based on our experience, they are similar to the T-Shirts. Our hooded sweatshirts are baggy and run a little big in the body but not in the sleeves. Our hats are all adjustable except for bucket hats which are sized for “average” heads; in other words, if you have a big noggin, the bucket hat probably won’t fit ya. Kids clothing is sized based on age. The 6 month size is way too big for a newborn, but buy them anyway, they grow into them!

Silk Chemise

Wednesday 7 September 2005 @ 12:19 pm

The chemise is worn under all outfits like a medieval slip. Chemises absorb the body’s soils and leave less wear and tear on the outer garment which was usually more expensive. The chemise still does the same job today.

The chemise is a French term. Italians called it camicia, the English called it smock and Irish called it a leine. The purpose of chemise was to protect clothing from sweat and body oils. Chemise seems to have been developed from the Roman tunica and first became popular in the European Middle Ages. Women wore chemises underneath their gowns or robes; men wore them with their trousers and under their doublets or robes.
